Oversee the smooth, equitable, and efficient operation the InnoRenew project.
The underlying concept of the InnoRenew project is to develop and operate a new Centre of Excellence, the InnoRenew CoE, that will conduct cutting edge scientific research related to renewable materials utilisation, develop industrially relevant applications of scientific developments and innovations, support businesses in their implementation of RDI activities and outcomes, and liaise with policy makers to direct more support to companies and research in the forest sector. The InnoRenew CoE’s activities will be centred on two key distinguishing technologies that set it apart from other institutions:
The objectives of the InnoRenew project will be achieved through a work plan designed to support the growth and operations of the new institute and to implement its scientific work in collaboration with the project partners.
An up-to-date list of project deliverables is available here.
Oversee the smooth, equitable, and efficient operation the InnoRenew project.
Develop and implement equitable, efficient, and effective management structure that ensures the growth and sustainability of the InnoRenew CoE institute.
Recruit, hire, train, and manage employee exchanges between partners.
Develop and implement the business services aspect of the InnoRenew CoE; recruit and manage member relationships, plan, and implement events and services for LL InnoRenew members.
Implement the RDI plan of the institute, including management of the results, industrial partner relationships, and related IPR activities.
Implementation of a series of research projects lead by consortium partners to develop a research record for the InnoRenew CoE and extend the capabilities of our partners.
Openly share and communicate the project results, research results, and networking results; implement promotions for the project; organize and attend conferences, workshops, and fairs.
The InnoRenew project is the H2020 funded action of the project partners (including the new institute) to establish the InnoRenew CoE as a successful, sustainable research organisation. The project includes collaborative research between the institute and its partners, mentoring, and operational activities.
The InnoRenew project started on 1st April 2017.
The InnoRenew CoE itself is the new independent and autonomous institute that that will employ researchers, conduct its own research, enhance and extend partner capabilities, and provide services to society in line with its overall research and societal objectives.
The InnoRenew CoE was formally established on 15th February 2017.
In the national funding framework, the so-called cohesion consortium includes the University of Primorska (as the leading partner), University of Maribor, Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia, Slovenian National Building and Civil Engineering Institute, Pulp and Paper Institute and InnoRenew CoE.
The InnoRenew project includes operation of the “Renewable Materials and Healthy Environments Research and Innovation Center of Excellence – InnoRenew CoE”. This operation is partially co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund and the Republic of Slovenia’s Ministry of Education, Science and Sport.
Operation of InnoRenew CoE is carried out under Priority Axis 1: “International Competitiveness of Research, Innovation and Technological Development in accordance with the Smart Specialization for Greater Competitiveness and Greening of the Economy”, Priority Investment 1.1: “Strengthening the infrastructure for research and innovation and capacity to develop excellence in this field, including the promotion of competent centers, in particular those of European interest”, within the framework of the Operational Program for the Implementation of the European Cohesion Policy 2014-2020.
The goal is to build a center of excellence that will take advantage of the scientific excellence and competence of the Slovenian partners with the cooperation and support of the advanced foreign partner, the Fraunhofer Institute for Wood Research, Wilhelm-Klauditz-Institute WKI (Fraunhofer WKI). Through research on the use of renewable materials, InnoRenew CoE will develop, improve and promote innovative products, processes, services, business models and systems for smart, sustainable and modern built environments for all generations.
InnoRenew project implementation will raise the technological level of experimental research work for all cohesion consortium partners. In addition, better organization and quality of research as well as new buildings and equipment will modernize existing research methods and introduce new research protocols that will increase the quality of scientific research achievements and contribute to a more competitive economy.
Total value of the InnoRenew project, taken from the certified investment documentation, is estimated at 54.027.134,68 EUR, including tax. The value of InnoRenew CoE operation, subject to co-financing in the Horizon 2020 program, is 14.996.025,00 EUR, including tax. Total value of the operation co-financed by the Republic of Slovenia’s Ministry of Education, Science and Sport is 39.031.109,68 EUR, including tax; whereby, the Ministry will co-finance the eligible costs of the operation in the amount of 29.992.050,00 EUR, including tax, from the European Regional Development Fund.
