Participants will look for solutions to a real-life problem, namely the increase of pollution in cities. In the introductory lectures they will learn about the importance of sustainable development, the different types of energy that exist today and why the current energy sector is unsustainable and harmful to the environment. The concepts of renewability and non-renewability will be introduced and discussed, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each.

This will be followed by an exploration of consumption habits, from the moment we wake up to the moment we go back to sleep, and then looking for solutions on how small changes can affect greenhouse gas emissions and resource use. They will present and share their ideas with each other and seek a common consensus to present to the Mayor and the City Council.

InnoRenew CoE project activities

InnoRenew researchers will introduce students to the importance of sustainable development and the role of natural materials in this. They will give instructions for a research project to find out how students can contribute to sustainable development in their own environment and then work with students to prepare a presentation for the Municipality of Koper. They will support the teachers in the continuation of the project in the Koper Gymnasium.
