NewWave project address the research and development of new sustainable formulations for the modification of wood through impregnation. InnoRenew CoE researchers presented the work performed for the manufacturing line for wood modification. The research is focused on formulations’ optimization based on Fast Pyrolysis Bio-Oil for use as a wood modification agent, characterization of the modified wood’s properties by multiple testing techniques and demonstration of the manufacturing line’s technical feasibility.

The meeting was hosted by the project partner Foreco, a timber product manufacturer, and a tour of their facilities was organized.

Before the meeting, InnoRenew CoE researchers, visited also the Utrecht University and the company Xyhlo biofinish, which is an environmentally friendly alternative for the preservation of wood.
