Hosting a student from the University of Gottingen

The InnoRenew CoE, in collaboration with the University of Primorska, hosted a MSc student Carl Kiepe from the University of Gottingen. His stay was supported by a bilateral project.

He stayed with us for 7 weeks, and he performed the process of Thermo-Hydro-Mechanical densification on Paulownia wood (Paulownia tomentosa). He investigated densification processes using different initial thicknesses of phenol formaldehyde treated and untreated specimens. He characterized the densification process, produced three-layer composites, performed mechanical testing, and completed the set-recovery test.

We are glad his research work during the visit was successful.
