The InnoRenew CoE hosted student from University of Gottingen

The InnoRenew CoE, in collaboration with the University of Primorska, hosted MSc student Carl Kiepe from the University of Gottingen. His stay was supported by a bilateral project.

He stayed with us for seven weeks, and he performed the process of thermo-hydro-mechanical densification on Paulownia wood (Paulownia tomentosa). He investigated the densification processes using different initial thicknesses of phenol formaldehyde treated and untreated specimens. He characterized the densification process, produced three-layer composites, performed mechanical testing and completed the set-recovery test.

We are glad his research work during the visit was successful.
