IUFRO 2017 Division 5 Conference: Forest Sector Innovations for a Greener Future, Vancouver, BC (Canada)

12. – 16. June 2017

In June, InnoRenew CoE’s team attended the IUFRO 2017 Division 5 Conference in Canada, organized by IUFRO Division 5, the Faculty of Forestry at the University of British Columbia, FPInnovations, and the Society of Wood Science and Technology.

Many of our researchers got the chance to speak:

  • Marko Posavčević presented REED and healthy workspaces, ‘Using Wood in the Built Environment to Promote Human Health, Social Wellbeing, and Environmental Sustainability’
  • Dr. Andreja Kutnar presented about the Sustainable Built Environment study programme at the University of Primorska, and, in collaboration with Amy Simmons, also talked about Gender diversity challenges in forestry research disciplines: Experiences of female researchers
  • Mike Burnard gave a presentation of the InnoRenew Center of Excellence
  • Dr. Matt Schwarzkopf gave a presentation entitled ‘Integrating forest management and wood processing technologies for the effective use of forest resources throughout the entire value chain’

Marko’s session was very well attended and a very vivid debate that followed confirmed that InnoRenew CoE’s focus on REED (Restorative Environmental and Ergonomic Design) is the right direction.

Thank you to the presenters, chair, and audience of the sessions for making it happen!
