InnoRenew CoE hosted professors and researchers from the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU) and Wood K plus

Dr. Andreja Kutnar, InnoRenew CoE director, welcomed professors and researchers from the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU) and Wood K plus, at the InnoRenew CoE and presented the main research activities and characteristics of the institute. She highlighted the interdisciplinarity aspect of their research and the collaborative approach.

Following, Eva Prelovšek Niemelä, presented the topics of Creativity & Society department and the construction process of the institute’s building.

After that dr. Anna Sandak presented the research topics of the Materials department with the focus on Archi-skin project, which was awarded with the ERC funding, dr. Jakub Sandak spoke about the project Dendro-spec in which the InnoRenew CoE team is developing a novel and low-cost method for rapid phenotyping of wood properties by means of near infrared spectroscopy and hyperspectral imaging, and dr. Rok Prislan presented the fruitful collaboration between Slovenian and Austrian research institutes and faculties within the Engineered wood composites with enhanced impact sound insulation performance to improve human well being (IRIS) project.

Dr. Jakub Sandak also led the group through the research laboratories with the focus on state-of-the-art equipment enabling diverse research studies.

The visit concluded with the discussion between InnoRenew CoE researchers and visiting guests about joint interests and potential projects. A follow-up visit and continuation of collaboration was also discussed.
