InnoRenew CoE collaborates in the tourism exhibition Modre naložbe za zeleni turizem

InnoRenew CoE, in cooperation with the UP Faculty of Tourism Studies and the Portorož Tourist Board, organised the exhibition “Modre naložbe za zeleni turizem”.

The exhibition, which showcases good practices of green investments in tourism in Slovenia and abroad, created through the cooperation of science and industry, was inaugurated on 27 September which is celebrated every year as the World Tourism Day. This day aims to raise awareness of the current role of tourism in the world. This year, the theme is Tourism and Green Investments. The United Nations World Tourism Organisation is using this slogan to remind people that it is time for investment that supports a green and resilient tourism transition.

Eva Prelovšek Niemelä, InnoRenew CoE architect and researcher, was at the opening of the exhibition and talked about some of InnoRenew CoE’s projects as good practices in green tourism.

At the exhibition you can see the renovation of the Hotel de Len, located in the Italian Dolomites, the design of an outdoor breastfeeding corner as a supportive environment for breastfeeding mothers, the renovation of a Servite monastery in Koper, the conceptual design for the construction of the new InnoRenew Beyond Science Centre, and the classrooms in nature located next to the elementary school Livade in Izola, which are made out of wood and form a thematic trail.

The exhibition will be displayed in the Turistica lobby every weekday between 8 am and 6 pm until 24 November.

The exhibition is part of the Green, Digital and Inclusive UP project, co-funded by the Republic of Slovenia, Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, and the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
