InnoRenew CoE is collaborating with Austrian company Langzauner

The interdisciplinary team of experts at InnoRenew CoE is combining knowledge from several disciplines, including architecture, construction, mechanical engineering, psychology, ergonomics, ICT, wood science and knowledge from multidisciplinary researchers in the healthy living environments area. This interdisciplinary approach to research and innovation allows InnoRenew CoE to develop novel sustainable construction solutions.

Researchers are performing their activities in nine research laboratories that are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, enabling important scientific breakthroughs.

Among the research laboratories is the Composites Laboratory which is equipped for the manufacture of some common bio-based composite materials. To obtain the requisite equipment the InnoRenew CoE collaborated with the Austrian company Langzauner. They provided the hydraulic press (Langzauner, Type LZT-OK-270-L), with a pressing area of 1500 x 900 mm and an opening of 400 mm. This equipment is enabling the InnoRenew CoE researchers to produce wood-based panel products as well as perform thermo-hydro-mechanical treatments of wood.

InnoRenew CoE will be using the press also to perform MetaDense densification process, which was developed in collaboration with MetaDynea company from Austria (European Patent EP19204677.9).
