Dr Andreja Kutnar will participate in the Haute Ecole du Bois et de la Forêt Summer School

Designed as a European Campus, the Haute Ecole du Bois et de la Forêt is currently being planned in the French Alps during 2.-8. July 2023.

The communities of municipalities of the Pays des Ecrins, Guillestrois- Queyras, Serre-Ponçon and the city of Guillestre are organizing a summer school to engage in collective reflection about the relationships between the forest and housing, in the specific context of the Alps, through an interdisciplinary approach. What representations, imaginary, uses and forms, to reinvent housing in the Alps of tomorrow?

Dr Andreja Kutnar, director of InnoRenew CoE, will participate in the roundtable discussion “The forest as a resource” on Friday 7. July 2023 at 18:30.

What are the conditions for optimizing the resource?  What bridges should be built between wood science and construction, to ensure a virtuous circle from the molecule to the building, and even to the regional project? Can wood and forests really play a key role in strategies to reduce carbon emissions and create more sustainable buildings? This round table will look at the forest as a resource, with a view to discussing the different levels of the sector, but also and above all at how the innovative industry can be put to work for local areas and their users.

She will discuss the new NEBAP Hub co-founded with the University of Primorska. The event will be live-streamed.

This summer school will welcome around fifty students, researchers and professionals during the week. Coming from all over France and Europe, they will share their practical experiences and research results in order to develop a resolutely ecosystemic vision of wood and forest, through conferences, exhibitions, projections, journeys…

Three conferences can be watched online. Check the schedule for details.
