The International Day of Forests is celebrated on 21 March each year. Since its proclamation by the United Nations General Assembly in 2012, the day celebrates and raises awareness about the importance of all types of forests.

InnoRenew CoE is celebrating it with Dr. Andreja Kutnar, InnoRenew CoE director, attending the 2022 World Wood Day Online Symposium and The Fourth IUFRO Forest Products Culture Colloquium. The event’s theme was “Trees and Non-Wood Forest Products: Challenges, Opportunities and Sustainability.”

Dr. Kutnar joined the Wood Products and Wood Biotechnology session, where she spoke about the viscoelastic behavior of modified wood. She also chaired the Building Components, Furniture, Musical Instruments, Artifacts and Design session.

Beyond Dr. Kutnar’s event, InnoRenew CoE employees celebrated the day by participating in different activities.
