Dr Iztok Šušteršič at Woodrise 2019

Woodrise, an international conference that takes place every second year, was held in Quebec City, Quebec (Canada) 30 September to 4 October 2019. The main goal is “promotion and development of mid-rise and tall wooden buildings worldwide”.

Dr Iztok Šušteršič, InnoRenew CoE’s Sustainable Building with Renewable Materials research group leader, joined the conference as it was a great way to strengthen already existing connections and establish new ones.

“I met many interesting people who would be interested in collaborating with us because they are working on similar topics as we are,” said Dr Šušteršič.

In addition, he had the chance to attend several engaging presentations and see demonstrations of innovative and non-traditional wooden buildings.

After the conference, the Woodrise Alliance, to which the InnoRenew CoE belongs, meeting took place at Laval University. At the meeting, different working groups discussed relevant topics for the wood construction sector, such as fire, earthquakes, industrialization and life-cycle assessment.
