The InnoRenew CoE hosted researcher from Sopron, Hungary

COST Action FP1407: ModWoodLife provided an opportunity for Mátyás Báder, PhD student at the Univeristy of Sopron, Institute of Wood Science, to undertake a short-term scientific mission and visit the InnoRenew CoE.

Mátyás spent one week in February 2019 at the InnoRenew CoE, where he met with researchers Dr Anna Sandak and Dr Jakub Sandak to discuss details of the compression and measurement processes. Analysis has been done regarding the changes in chemical functional groups of wood, induced by longitudinal compression treatment, and two methods were developed for the computation of averaged FT-IR spectra for interpretation.

Mátyás will be able to use this knowledge in his PhD thesis.
