SLOWOODLIFE, Ravne na Koroškem, Slovenia

21.6.2017

Associate professor and acting director of InnoRenew CoE, Dr. Andreja Kutnar attended the Slovenian forum on wood construction SLOWOODLIFE, which took place in the wooden, low-energy youth hotel Punkl in Ravne na Koroškem.

Wooden construction is known to be the construction of the future. Therefore, the main purpose of the SLOWOODLIFE forum is to break down numerous stereotypes about wooden construction and to promote the use of wood in construction of houses, in refined furniture, equipment, and other products. Experts in the wood construction sector addressed architects, designers, investors and the public in order to promote the Slovenian wood industry.

Slovenia, as a country rich in forests and with its own abundant timber resources, should follow the world trend of sustainable wood construction and should develop innovative approaches for wood construction. We have numerous Slovenian companies that are engaged in wooden construction at a high technological level.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Andreja Kutnar stated the importance of: »wider use of Slovenian wood, obtained with sustainable principles. This would be the easiest and the most economical way towards a low or even a no-carbon society. Due to its diverse properties, wood can be used for an extremely wide range of purposes, but we do not take advantage of the potential that our natural wealth offers us. Wood science should be of vital importance for Slovenia.«
