International Conference on Operational Research KOI

Dr Miklós Krész, ICT research group leader, and László Hajdu assistant researcher from the ICT group have participated in the 17th International Conference on Operational Research KOI.

The conference is organized biannually by the Croatian Operational Research Society; this year it was held in Zadar between 26th and 28th of September, 2018. All relevant topics of Operational Research were covered by the 86 contributed talks such as the classical fields of Mathematical programming, Multicriteria Decision Making, Quantitative methods in Banking and Finance, Statistics and Econometrics as well as the modern methodology of Machine Learning and Data Mining. In addition to the contributed talks, in the plenary sessions leading international experts gave presentations about the current trends of machine learning methods, data envelopment analysis, extra large problem solving, and management science.

László Hajdu presented his new graph-theoretic cycle detection algorithm that can be efficiently used for fraud detection. While the topic of Dr Miklós Krész’s talk was a new approach on decision support in construction logistics.

Both colleagues had fruitful discussions with other researchers, and several common potential subjects have been identified for further collaboration.
