InnoRenew CoE at the Slovenian Wood Days

Bogdan Božac, InnoRenew CoE’s assistant director, attended the Slovenian Wood Days event, organised by SPIRIT Slovenia in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy, Tourism and Sport, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia and the Chamber of Craft and Small Business of Slovenia.

It is the main national professional event of the Slovenian timber industry, which took place as part of the Dom fair. The event highlighted the resurgence of the timber industry, which is key for providing green jobs, regional development and the circular economy.

Bogdan Božac took part in a closing panel discussion on the current challenges of development in the wood and furniture industry in the light of the changes towards more circular and sustainable production. The discussion brought together researchers, companies and suppliers of technological equipment. The panel discussion included also renowned experts Miha Humar from the Faculty of Biotechnics, Marko Krek from KTP, Tamara Golmajer from Intercet and Rok Barbič, director of Stilles.

The opening address was given by Mag. Dejan Židan, State Secretary at the Ministry of the Economy, who explained the State’s plans to promote the wood-processing sector.

In addition to various round tables, expert lectures and discussions, an international business meeting of companies in the furniture, wood construction and equipment sectors took place. This year’s event was particularly enriched by the wood products exhibited by the students of the higher school Višja strokovna šola za les in oblikovanje – Lesarska šola, which were on display throughout the event and attracted great enthusiasm from the participants.
