Dr. Anna Sandak about the importance of obtaining ERC project

Dr. Anna Sandak, InnoRenew CoE’s research group leader, shared her thoughts with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation about the importance of obtaining a European Research Council (ERC) project for career development and further research.

Last year Dr. Sandak was successful in obtaining the ERC project Bioinspired living skin for architecture (ARCHI-SKIN). In this five-year project, researchers are studying the principles of fungal biofilm formation, with the aim of advancing our knowledge of the chemical and structural properties of this biological system.

The basic idea of the project is to develop a bioactive protective coating system that works in harmony with nature and exploits the synergy of living fungal cells, natural ingredients and bioinspired material design concepts.
