European Researchers’ Night 2019

The InnoRenew CoE joined the European Researchers’ Night that took place Friday, 27 September 2019. The University of Primorska organized several workshops, one of which was dedicated to wood science.

Dr Črtomir Tavzes, researcher at the InnoRenew CoE, welcomed young participants in the laboratory of Wood Magic, presented the work of a wood scientist and showed different uses for wood – from paper to construction of tall wooden buildings.

Dr Tavzes also participated in a very special workshop that took place at the Archaeological Park in Simon’s Bay, Izola (Slovenia). With the desire to show life in Roman times, organizers created replicas of objects from those times. These objects included a replica of shoes – Roman sandals – that were used mostly during free time. Researchers at the InnoRenew CoE made these replica sandals with a wooden sole and leather banners.

This excellent example of researcher collaboration between colleagues from the InnoRenew CoE and the Institute of Archaeology and Heritage from the University of Primorska Faculty of Humanities will continue in the future.
Visitors to European Researchers’ Night 2019 got to know researchers’ work and what can be achieved with collaboration.
