Sheld-on kicks-off second phase in Romania

Dr Anna Sandak and Dr Michael Burnard recently attended the COST Action CA16226 Indoor living space improvement: Smart Habitat for the Elderly (Sheld-on) Core Group and Working Group 4 (WG 4) meeting, held at Politechnica University of Bucharest (Romania). The meeting kicked-off the Action’s second phase and WG 4’s work.

WG 4 will devise, prepare and demonstrate solutions for ageing well at home, work and in the community. Across these areas, a subgroup of WG 4 will focus on technology adoption and steps to take that ensure solutions are designed to be useable and acceptable by the target audience of older adults and their caregivers.

Dr Sandak led the Ageing Well at Home subgroup. Dr Burnard participated in this subgroup and aided in the planning and execution of the larger meeting in his role as vice-chair of the Action.

The event also launched the print version of “State of the Art Report for Smart Habitat of Older Persons”, which highlights  furniture and habitat, ICT and healthcare solutions for older adults. This report represents the hard work and collaboration of all participants during the Action’s first 18 months.
