October 2017 Workshops: Focus on Innovation and Creativity

The InnoRenew CoE is hosting three events in October 2017 that focus on developing and supporting an innovative and creative culture in Slovenia’s forest sector. The workshops will be lead by the InnoRenew CoE’s global expert in forest sector business, Prof. Eric Hansen, and Dr. Lyndall Bull, a globally recognised expert in innovation.


10 October 2017, Collaboration in manufactured home companies

This  event will examine possibilities for collaboration within the manufactured home sector in Slovenia in collaboration with leaders from the sector. Together, the facilitators and industry members will explore opportunities, barriers, and how the industry approaches collaboration. This event will be held Titov trg 4, Koper.

11 October 2017, Fostering creativity in the Slovenian furniture and furniture design industry

This interactive workshop will demonstrate techniques to enhance and sustain creativity in new product development. The facilitators will lead activities in cross-discipline creativity and using creativity to enhance competitiveness. The event will be held at Livade 6, Izola.

Who should attend: Furniture manufacturers and designers aiming to enhance their company’s creativity to improve their competitiveness.

12 October 2017, Identifying opportunities for innovation in the Slovenian wood sector.

The facilitators will guide participating companies through methods to develop and improve their approaches to innovation and product development. This will support participants in their efforts to create more innovative and competitive companies. This event will be held at Livade 6, Izola.

Who should attend: Wood industry representatives aiming to foster their organization’s innovation potential.

Facilitators

Dr. Lyndall Bull has extensive global experience in the forest sector incorporating strategic management, innovation and research management. Complementing her technical knowledge is Lyndall’s project and program management experience. Lyndall has a PhD in innovation in the forest sector and is recognised internationally for her expertise in that area.

Dr. Bull has published in numerous peer reviewed journals and has been requested to present her research findings at many conferences and workshops. Lyndall is the recipient of numerous awards and is an experienced educator.

Lyndall has worked in both the policy and operational forestry settings at the senior level and has been responsible for a large research budget serving the needs of a significant hardwood forestry estate.

Lyndall is a current non-executive director of Sustainable Timber Tasmania and Forestry Corporation New South Wales. She is the Chair of the Western Australian Timber Industry Reference Panel and has previously served on the board of CRC Forestry and as the Chair of the South Australia Forest Industry Development Board. Lyndall is the founder and Principal of Lynea Advisory where she provides advice to a range of clients in the primary industry sector regarding forest policy, innovation, research management and sustainability.

 

Dr. Eric Hansen is currently Professor of Forest Products Marketing and Department Head of Wood Science and Engineering at Oregon State University (OSU). He received a B.S. in Forest Products Business Management from the University of Idaho in 1990 and a PhD in the 1994 from Virginia Tech, specializing in Forest Products Marketing. He has worked at OSU since August 1994. Current research areas are organizational innovation, bioeconomy transition, corporate social responsibility, and strategic marketing. He is co-author of Strategic Marketing in the Global Forest Industries. He teaches innovation and marketing management topics at OSU for undergraduate and graduate students as well as for regional industry managers. He coordinates the Executive Management Institute for the North American Wholesale Lumber Association (NAWLA) as well as serving on the NAWLA Education Committee.
