Viviana is a technician for the Engineered Living Materials Laboratory at InnoRenew CoE.
She obtained her Bachelor of Science in General Biology at the University of Hawai´i at Manoa. During that time she worked in two different laboratories. In the Soil Microbial Ecology lab, she studied for three years how endemic microorganisms behaved in environments with high concentrations of Manganese, and if they could create or decompose oxalates. On the Marine, Terrestrial, ´Urban´ Mircobiology lab, she spent one year working with new bacterial species isolated from the Hawaiian islands and looking for bacteriophages that could infect them.
During her free time she likes to hike and explore the forests.
