Andrej Fašalek is an Assistant with Doctorate at InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM.

His research focuses on wood adhesives and engineered wood products, with a particular interest in adhesive bonding and the efficient use of wood resources. He holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Wood Science and Technology from the University of Ljubljana.

He completed his PhD at BOKU University, Vienna, within the doctoral programme Build like Nature: Resilient Buildings, Materials and Society. His doctoral research investigated the influence of wood species on adhesive bonding in strand-based panels.

Before starting his PhD, he worked for several years in northern Germany in timber construction planning and work preparation, gaining practical experience in timber engineering and production processes.

His interests include sustainable timber construction, wood-based materials, and practical applications of wood technology. Outside his research, he enjoys traveling, aquascaping, and fishing.
