Dr. Andreja Kutnar, department chair of InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM, signed a declaration of support for the initiative to establish the International Day of Living with Wood during its first public presentation at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia in Ljubljana on 12 May 2026.
The initiative and its manifesto were officially presented on the occasion, proposing 7 November as the International Day of Living with Wood. By signing the declaration, founding partners committed to promoting the date as a platform for knowledge exchange and awareness of wood’s role in creating quality living environments.
The initiative views wood as more than a material resource, highlighting its role in shaping well-being, spatial experience and sustainable living across technical, social, and environmental dimensions. It places particular emphasis on the human experience of space and the importance of responsible use of wood in the built environment.
It also complements existing observances focused on forests and wood by adding a human-centred perspective on how wood influences everyday life, from homes and workplaces to public spaces.
