Dr. Lei Han, InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM researcher, delivered a guest lecture at the Technical University of Dresden (TU Dresden) in Germany on 29 October 2026.

Dr. Han was invited by Prof. Alexander Pfriem and his team at the Chair of Wood Technology and Wood-Based Bioeconomy to deliver a lecture entitled “Wood Densification: Fundamentals and Emerging Applications”. The lecture introduced thermo-hydro-mechanical (THM) wood densification and highlighted two research directions: the mechanical performance of densified wood at elevated temperatures and moisture-activated densified wooden dowels for adhesive-free timber connections.

The visit also included a tour of the university’s research facilities and laboratories, followed by discussions on ongoing research and potential future collaborations. Both sides expressed interest in continued academic exchange and future visits.
