A paper developed within the WENUS – Wood Education for Sustainable Construction project has been published in the proceedings of EDULEARN26, the 18th International Conference on Education and New Learning Technologies, held in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, from 29 June to 1 July 2026.
Entitled “Development of Innovative Vocational Training Resources for Sustainable and Digital Transition in Timber Construction”, the publication presents the work carried out in WENUS to develop new vocational training resources for the green and digital transition in timber construction.
The publication covers the main stages of the WENUS training development process, starting with the analysis of current skills and training needs and continuing with the design and external validation of the Joint Curriculum, the development of the training materials and their integration into the WENUS e-learning platform.
The initial analysis combined feedback from 33 experts with a review of 35 educational programmes in Germany, Spain, Slovenia and Poland. The findings were used to develop the WENUS Joint Curriculum, structured into four modules and 15 learning units covering circular economy, advanced materials and sustainable design, digital technologies, and sustainable practices and future trends.
The results also include the external curriculum evaluation, in which 41 experts participated. 97.5% of respondents considered that the curriculum adequately or greatly addresses the identified needs of the sector. Their feedback was used to refine the final curriculum and the subsequent training resources.
The conference paper also presents the training materials developed in WENUS, including the coursebooks, infographics, videos, assessment resources, guide for trainers, five 3D printing exercises and the e-learning platform.
EDULEARN26 welcomed more than 800 participants from the fields of education, research and technology. The conference offered a good setting to present the WENUS work and make the project results visible to an international audience.
The publication was prepared by partners from KIT, CETEM, InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM and GlobalNet, with contributions from Germany, Spain, Slovenia and Poland. As a project partner, InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM plays an important role in the implementation of WENUS, leading the work package “Promotion & Sustainability” and contributing to the development of the project’s detailed Educational Framework and the planning and implementation of the training experience methodology.
