Dr. Ana Slavec and Martina Vrhovnik, InnoRenew CoE researchers, participated at the workshop Citizen science in practice, which was held 21 May 2025, at the Slovenian National Building and Civil Engineering Institute (ZAG).
During the workshop, participants were introduced to the concept of citizen science and explored various ways it can be integrated into the research process. Examples of good practices were also presented, including the project Protection of bronze monuments in the changing environment, presented by Dr. Ana Slavec, and the project Engineered wood composites with enhanced impact sound insulation performance to improve human well being, presented by Martina Vrhovnik.
The workshop concluded with group work, during which participants developed their own projects based on practical examples, exchanged ideas, and discussed the potential applications of citizen science in various fields.
Citizen science is a concept of collaborative approach to scientific research that actively involves individuals who are not professional scientists.
The workshop was organized by ZAG and the Central Technical Library at the University of Ljubljana.
