Wood Science Beyond Europe workshop

InnoRenew CoE and University of Primorska organized a workshop “Wood Science Beyond Europe”, held 20-22 May 2025 at InnoRenew CoE.

The event featured internationally recognized wood science experts Dr. Laurence Schimleck and Dr. Scott Leavengood, who joined online, from Oregon State University, USA.

This three-day workshop aimed to bridge research and industrial practices between Europe and North America. Topics included Oregon’s forest industry, non-destructive testing methods, wood variability, and strategies for commercializing lesser-utilized wood species. The final day an interactive workshop took place, focusing on within-tree variation and its practical implications.

The event was organized in collaboration with NEBA Alliance (GA #101160532) and WoodStock project (GA #101181021).

The project GDI UP is co-financed by the Republic of Slovenia, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, and the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
