Dr. Ana Slavec, assistant professor at UP FAMNIT and InnoRenew CoE researcher, attended the 32nd Slovenian Informatics Day Conference, held 15-16 April 2025 in Portorož. The main theme was “Digital future for everyone”.

At the event she presided the Arnes HackathON award committee that selected the three best student teams that were competing to create solutions for real-world challenges. The purpose of the hackathon is to promote the use of supercomputers and the use of open data.

This was the second time that she participated in the committee, and she was impressed with the work presented by the students. The winning team developed an optimization of biological drug production, the second place was an app to help limiting the spread of forest fires and the third focused on detecting deforestation.
