Dr. Anna Sandak, InnoRenew CoE Deputy director and Head of research department – Materials, recently published a scientific article, “Advances in microbial self-healing concrete: A critical review of mechanisms, developments, and future directions”, in Elsevier Science of The Total Environment.

The authors created a review of recently published peer-reviewed literature with a focus on microbiological aspects of the self-healing process in concrete. It assesses the cost and viability challenges of bioconcrete and identifies future potential research work.
