Dr. Aleksandar Tošić, InnoRenew CoE researcher, attended the 31st Slovenian Informatics Days (DSI 2024) conference, which took place 14-15 May 2024, and focused mainly on key topics of informatics and digitisation in Slovenia and beyond.
Dr Tošić participated in the fair, where exhibitors presented breakthrough projects and ideas. The fair aims to showcase the best university research projects that are suitable for productivity in companies. He presented the project “Implementation of assistants based on own data”. By introducing artificial intelligence methods in the field of natural language processing, a basic version of a student assistant has been prepared to help students finding information related to the administration of the study process. Domen Vake and Dr. Jernej Vičič from the University of Primorska’s Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technologies also participated in the project. In addition, he presented the project “Detecting fake trading on decentralised marketplaces”, where an innovative methodology aimed at detecting money laundering activities was developed by combining NFT ownership traces with the Ethereum transaction network. Dr. Niki Hrovatin and Dr. Jernej Vičič from the University of Primorska’s Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technologies also participated in the project.
Further he highlighted the research projects he is carrying out within the InnoRenew CoE, where his main focus is on optimisation, distributed and decentralised systems, network protocols and wireless sensor networks.
Additionally, Dr. Ana Slavec, InnoRenew CoE researcher, participated at the conference as member of the HackathON award committee organised by Arnes.
The DSI 2024 conference was held under the theme “Building the world of the future with artificial intelligence”. The conference focused on the idea of the use and impact of artificial intelligence and related topics, contributing to the progress of the country and becoming a key tool to improve efficiency in various sectors, whether in private or public environments.
