Dr. Sudha Esakkimuthu, InnoRenew CoE researcher, attended the Training School 2022 in life cycle assessment methodology for food packaging that was organized by Cost Action Rethinking packaging for circular and sustainable food supply chains of the future (Circulability) held 24-27 October 2022, in Aveiro, Portugal.

The objective of the course was to provides participants with an understanding of the Life Cycle Assessment methodology (LCA) and how to apply it to food packaging. Further, they acquired competences to understand the relevance of an LCA study to support food packaging sustainability, and will be able to assess the potential environmental impacts of food packaging’s,  identify hotspots for packaging optimization (as means of prioritizing action on product sustainability).
