Dr. Anna Sandak and Dr. Jakub Sandak, InnoRenew CoE researchers, have authored an open access book, “Wood Modification: Characterization, Modelling and Applications”, published by Coatings from the journal’s Special Issue.

The authors present new research findings on wood modification to develop new and highly innovative materials with enhanced properties for natural timber.

Wood has many positive characteristics, and it is suitable for use in construction. However, it does have some limitations that need to be further studied and improved for its expanded use.

“We present the newest research outcome in the field of the enhancement of native wood properties through a wide range of chemical, biological, and physical agents,” the authors wrote in the introduction.
