Republic of Slovenia’s Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, Wood Industry Directorate, visits InnoRenew CoE

On 8 July 2021, InnoRenew CoE hosted representatives from the Republic of Slovenia’s Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, Wood Industry Directorate, including Anton Danilo Ranc, the Director-General of the Wood Industry Directorate.

The group visited InnoRenew CoE’s laboratories and the construction site of the institute’s new building in Izola.

During the visit, the group also had a chance to discuss a recent study done by InnoRenew CoE and Deloitte d.o.o. that was commissioned by Slovenia’s Ministry of Economic Development and Technology in response to a package of legislative changes, “Fit for 55”, proposed by the European Commission.

This study examined the impact of legislative proposals on representative sectors of the Slovenian wood industry. Findings suggest that Slovenia, as a green country, must proactively respond to the forthcoming proposals in the “Fit for 55” package, and it must undertake a leadership role while coordinating with other EU countries that share similar challenges.
