Dr Včelák at GSCAEE 2021

The Global Summit on Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering (GSCAEE) 2021 took place 19-21 July 2021.

Dr Jan Včelák, InnoRenew CoE researcher, participated in the session dedicated to building and construction technology. He presented available methods for permanent timber structure monitoring, results of failure detection algorithms as well as results of algorithms used to estimate risk of mold growth directly in the timber structure. The results are supported by real cases of failures recorded in timber structures.

“Wood is a sustainable and natural material, which is often used not only for single floor but also for tall buildings,” Dr Včelák said. “New methods of diagnostics and permanent monitoring of timber structures have to be developed and used in order to assure long service life of timber building and mitigate risk of expensive maintenance and repairs.”
