Dr Burnard at the 6th Karelia Symposium

Dr Michael Burnard, InnoRenew CoE’s deputy director, attended the 6th Karelia Symposium, organised by the University of Eastern Finland and Teollisuusneuvos Heikki Väänänen’s Fund as an online event with the theme “Health from Wood”.

Dr Burnard presented the health benefits of using wooden materials in building construction and the built environment.

“This year’s Karelia Symposium was a great opportunity for wood and health researchers to share their work and set an agenda for future research in the field,” he said.

Attendees had the opportunity to explore the effects of wooden materials on human health and trees’ potential as a source material for health-promoting products.
