University of Primorska (UP) celebrated its 18th anniversary this year. UP was officially established on 17 March 2003, and to mark this occasion, they prepared the traditional Week of UP and held several virtual events.

One event was the roundtable discussion, “Responsibility as a Condition or Necessity?”, moderated by Dr Črtomir Tavzes, InnoRenew CoE researcher and expert in the field of combining natural science and art. Dr Lara Lusa, statistician, and Dr Tomaž Grušovnik, humanist, shared their thoughts about open, inclusive and responsible science.

For many years, international research policies have emphasized the importance of developing open and responsible science, which should also include citizen science. Responsibility in science is huge, and there are many different forms of responsibility researchers and institutions like universities have towards science and scientific research.
