InnoRenew CoE at Slovenian Wood Days

SPIRIT Slovenia and the Republic of Slovenia’s Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, Wood Industry Directorate, organized Slovenian Wood Days, an online event titled “Wood – Our Green Future”.

The event started with welcoming words from Zdravko Počivalšek, Minister of Economic Development and Technology. He pointed out that the wood industry is very important for Slovenia, and he is happy to see a positive trend in the wood and furniture industry.

Dr Andreja Kutnar, InnoRenew CoE director, presented the topic of circular economy and economic impacts of lower carbon dioxide emissions. Dr Kutnar also mentioned the role of design for disassembly and increased use of waste wood.

Dr Iztok Šušteršič took part in a roundtable discussion, moderated by InnoRenew CoE researcher Dr Črtomir Tavzes, about opportunities in green industry. Moreover, Dr Šušteršič presented the advantages of using wood in buildings.

Other speakers highlighted the general situation of the wood industry in Slovenia, measures taken by the state for fostering its development, green public procurement and the European Green Deal.
