At the end of January 2020, Dr Igor Gavrić, InnoRenew CoE researcher, visited the University of Trento (Italy), Department of Civil, Environmental and Mechanical Engineering. Dr  Gavrić was an invited lecturer in the doctoral course “Multiple approaches to the investigation of the seismic behaviour of timber structures”.

The course was attended by several PhD students from the university and postdoc researchers from other Italian universities. Dr Gavrić’s four-hour lecture was divided into two parts. First he presented the topic of experimental investigation of CLT connections, assemblies and buildings, and then he focused on analytical and numerical analyses for seismic design of CLT buildings based on experimental tests.

In addition to the lecture, he visited CNR-IVALSA, the Italian research institute, and met with their researchers who presented ongoing research projects and experimental tests. Moreover, they discussed future collaboration in preparing scientific publications.

Before returning home, Dr Gavrić stopped by Holzpak and met with Dr Ermann Acler, the company’s owner, to discuss their operations, international collaborations and possibilities for future collaboration.
