Dr Andreja Kutnar competing for Slovenian of the Year 2019

Dr Andreja Kutnar, director of the InnoRenew CoE, is currently competing for the title Slovenian of the Year 2019. Readers of the magazine Zarja vote yearly for this award that honors Slovenian women who made an important mark for Slovenia, whether with their work or personality.

This year, the magazine’s editors selected 11 successful women from more than 100 candidates, hailing from various fields – sports, culture, medicine, entrepreneurship, journalism and science.

Dr Kutnar, carpenter, scientist, associate professor at the University of Primorska and leader of the largest European research project in Slovenia – the InnoRenew CoE, was very happy to learn she is among the 11 candidates.

“The fact that I am among candidates who are more recognized within the public than a female scientist is an important sign that we have succeeded in bringing science closer to the general public,” said Dr Kutnar. “This is also something we are working on at the InnoRenew CoE.”

You can vote for Dr Kutnar on this link every 24 hours by completing the online form or by using the ballot included in the print edition of Zarja, which is published each Tuesday. Voting will take place until the Christmas edition of the magazine is out, and the winner will be announced at the beginning of January 2020 during an official ceremony at the Opera in Ljubljana.
