The Festival of Wood started in 2013 with the wish to excite people about the forest-based sector and promote wood products. The festival has been organized every year since then.

As part of this event, Dr Andreja Kutnar, director of the InnoRenew CoE, and Dr Črtomir Tavzes, researcher, attended a professional forum, “Forest and Wood as an opportunity in the Regional Development”, that was held on Friday, 11 October 2019 in Kočevje, Slovenia.

In the practical part, Dr Kutnar and Dr Tavzes exchanged views with colleagues from forest-oriented institutions and companies. In the continuation, they listened to a detailed presentation about bio-based carbon production.

“What a nice historical precursor to some of the InnoRenew CoE’s high-tech biochar experiments,” said Dr Črtomir Tavzes.
