The InnoRenew CoE researchers attend third Research Day Italy-Slovenia

On 16 April 2019, the third Research Day Italy-Slovenia was held at Lanthieri Mansion in Vipava, Slovenia. Organised by the Slovenian Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, it is a bilateral meeting on the role of research in society. This year’s topic was high-performance computing (HPC) as research of the future. After the main discussion, three panel discussions took place: Physical and Engineering Sciences, Life Sciences and Social Sciences and Humanities. Each was led by one Slovenian and one Italian researcher.

Dr Miklós Krész, research group leader of the InnoRenew CoE’s Information and Computer Technologies group, and researcher László Hajdu attended the event. They had an opportunity to hear the presentation about HPC infrastructure in Slovenia, which is important for further research planning at the InnoRenew CoE.

The event also hosted the Minister for Education, Science and Sport, Dr Jernej Pikalo, the Italian Ambassador to Slovenia, Paolo Trichilo, Director-General at the Science Directorate, Tomaž Boh, Rector of the University of Nova Gorica, Dr Danilo Zavrtanik, Rector of the University of Primorska, Dr Dragan Marušič, and other guests and representatives from Slovenia and Italy.

Research Day Italy-Slovenia concluded with a summary of future events, activities and collaborations that will have a major impact on development of the region in the coming year.
