The University of Primorska started the new academic year with new and renewed premises. On Monday there was the official ceremony for the opening of the new premises where for years the post office Poša Slovenije had its offices. Now there are more classrooms, computer laboratories and some offices for the employees of the Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technologies (UP FAMNIT), and for some InnoRenew CoE researchers.
Our colleagues from UP FAMNIT organized an official ceremony, which was attended by the Minister of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Slovenia Prof. Dr. Jernej Pikalo. Guests were also welcomed and addressed by the rector of the University of Primorska, Dr Dragan Marušič and the dean of UP FAMNIT Dr Klavdija Kutnar. Both expressed great pleasure that the project of the new and renewed premises for the university came true. Moreover, the major of the Municipality of Koper, Boris Popovič came to the event and welcomed the development and quality academic and research work of the University of Primorska.
The InnoRenew CoE team had a great opportunity to meet and discuss with the new Minister of Education, Science and Sport prof. Dr Jernej Pikalo. Our director, Dr Andreja Kutnar, presented our research institute with the emphasis on our achievements from the last year and a half – 21 organized events, attendance at 60 conferences, visits of 33 companies and 23 research institutes and more than 1 million additional funds obtained through successful project proposal submissions.
We congratulate our colleagues at the University of Primorska and UP FAMNIT for the successful achievement, and we wish everyone pleasant working in the new building.
