The European Conference on Wood Modification is a firmly established event dedicated to all global wood modification technologies. This years conference is the ninth in the series, and it took place in Arnhem, the Netherlands.

Wood modification is one of the key research areas of our research institute. Therefore, we did not want to miss the chance to participate and visit the conference.

Our researchers Dr Kelly Peeters, Dr Anna Sandak, and the assistant researcher Dean Lipovac presented their research at the conference. Moreover, our director Dr Andreja Kutnar joined the conference as she was a part of the Scientific Committee and the Session chair of the COST Action FP 1407 ModWoodLife. The mentioned COST action, dedicated to the investigation of modification processing and products design with emphasis on their environmental impacts, was also a co-host of the conference.

Representatives of the InnoRenew CoE had an opportunity to meet with many colleagues and experts at the conference. Besides that, they interacted with two of our global experts – Dr Holger Militz and Dr Callum Hill.
