Prof Callum Hill was a senior lecturer in wood science at Bangor University. In 2007, he moved to the Centre for Timber Engineering to take up the post of Edinburgh Research Partnership Professor of Materials Science, where he developed his interest in the environmental impact of materials utilisation. He resigned his post in 2013 in order to develop his consultancy (JCH Industrial Ecology Ltd). Prof Hill is a Senior Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Bath and a Visiting Researcher at the Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research. He has authored over 180 research papers, six book chapter and two text books (Wood Modification: Chemical, Thermal and Other Processes – John Wiley and Sons; An Introduction to Sustainable Resource Use – Routledge).
