Dr Črtomir Tavzes at ESOF2020-sponsored bioeconomy workshop

The EuroScience Open Forum 2020 Trieste (ESOF2020), which will be held in July 2020, will bring together over 4000 researchers, business actors, policy makers and journalists from all over the world to discuss breakthroughs in science. Within the ESOF2020 framework, organizers are already hosting numerous events this year. Among them was the two-day workshop “Bioeconomy and Bio-based Industry for the Rural Renaissance of Regions”.

Dr Črtomir Tavzes, researcher at the InnoRenew CoE, attended the workshop, which aimed to identify opportunities offered by the bioeconomy for interregional development of Italy, Austria, Slovenia and Croatia. The focus was on enhancing value chains in rural areas able to generate investments for bio-based industries. Dr Tavzes discussed the alliances between primary production and bioindustry and pointed out the role of the Slovenian Forest-based Technology Platform.

The event was a great opportunity to initiate dialogue between the main actors in Europe from this field.
