Celebrating the first Day of Living with Wood in Slovenia

Today, 7 November 2026, we celebrate the first Day of Living with Wood in Slovenia, an initiative highlighting the importance of wood in creating high-quality, healthy, and sustainable living environments.

The initiative to establish the International Day of Living with Wood was first publicly presented on 12 May 2026 at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia in Ljubljana. On this occasion, founding partners signed a charter of support, expressing their joint commitment to promoting 7 November as the International Day of Living with Wood. Dr. Andreja Kutnar represented InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM, among the founding signatories.

The Day of Living with Wood is dedicated to wood as a natural material that connects people, space, nature, and the future. It highlights the quality of living, a responsible approach to materials, and the conscious use of wood in architecture, homes, furniture, and everyday objects. It also emphasises that wood is more than just a material; it is part of the environment that influences our well-being, experience of space, and connection with nature.

Let’s celebrate the importance of wood in shaping healthier, more sustainable, and inspiring places to live. We hope this initiative will grow beyond Slovenia and become a truly international observance, bringing together people, organisations, and communities around the world.
