InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM, participated in the University of Primorska’s ŠtartUP event, which took place on Saturday, 10 October 2026 in Žusterna Seaside Park. The annual sports and social event marked the beginning of the 2026/27 academic year, bringing together students, university staff and representatives of local organisations.

At the event, InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM presented an interactive activity that invited students to test their knowledge of wood. Participants were challenged to identify different wood samples by guessing the wood species. A microscope was also available for those who wanted to take a closer look at the samples and explore the details of the wood’s structure.

The activity offered students an opportunity to learn more about the diversity of wood and discover some of its distinctive characteristics in an engaging, hands-on way.

The ŠtartUP event provides first-year students with an opportunity to connect with one another, meet senior students and get to know the university’s academic and professional staff, as well as organisations from the local community. This year, the event welcomed a record 800 students and nearly 60 exhibitors.
