The 2026/2027 academic year marks an important milestone for Sustainable Construction Studies at the Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technologies of the University of Primorska (UP FAMNIT). For the first time, the Bachelor’s programme Wood Innovation for Sustainability is being offered alongside the existing Master’s programme Sustainable Built Environments and PhD programme Renewable Materials for Healthy Built Environments.
Together, the three programmes provide students with a continuous educational pathway from Bachelor’s to PhD studies in the field of wood and sustainable built environments. Their teaching and research activities are closely connected to the work of InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM.
This year, 29 students are enrolled in the Bachelor’s programme, 6 in the Master’s programme and 5 in the PhD programme.
The programmes are coordinated by researchers from InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM. Dr. Andreja Kutnar coordinates the Wood Innovation for Sustainability Bachelor’s programme, with Dr. Mohammad Derikvand, serving as Deputy Coordinator. Dr. Matthew Schwarzkopf coordinates the Sustainable Built Environments Master’s programme, with Prof. Andreja Kutnar, PhD, serving as Deputy Coordinator. Dr. Andreja Kutnar also coordinates the Renewable Materials for Healthy Built Environments PhD programme.
