InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM hosted Ledinek and representatives of Bhutan Shingzo Ltd.

InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM hosted representatives of Ledinek Engineering and the Bhutan Shingzo Ltd. on 10 September 2026 in Izola, Slovenia.

The visit was organised in connection with Ledinek Engineering’s project to establish a production line for glued laminated timber in Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC), Bhutan. The project is being developed under the patronage of His Majesty the King of Bhutan and forms part of the development of GMC as a new economic hub focused on sustainable development, green technologies and the responsible use of natural resources.

During the visit, the focus was on knowledge exchange related to engineered wood products, relevant standards and testing methods. Dr. Andreja Kutnar, department chair of InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM, presented InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM and its activities, followed by an overview of standards used for engineered wood products in Europe. Dr. Lei Han and Dr. Andrej Fašalek, InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM researchers, demonstrated the delamination testing procedure and presented the different steps involved in the testing process, while Dr. Mohammad Derikvand, InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM researcher, demonstrated finger joint testing.

The visit further strengthened collaboration between InnoRenew CoE, Ledinek and Bhutan Shingzo Ltd.
