The Resilient Theatre is a participatory cultural and architectural project at the National Rehabilitation Centre UNBROKEN in Lviv, Ukraine. It will bring together veterans, internally displaced people, architects, theatre practitioners, researchers, and cultural workers to collectively build and activate an open-air theatre using timber and locally sourced bio-based materials.
The project will start from the idea that the recovery of people and the reconstruction of places should not be treated as separate processes. Through participatory building, ecological construction, and storytelling through theatre, it will explore how making a place together can support agency, expression, connection, and belonging. The project is developed as a pilot for a more participatory, ecological, and socially grounded approach to recovery and reconstruction practices.
The project is taking place from June 2026 until March 2027, with the onsite building and community events planned between 25th of August and 13th of September 2026.
