InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM doctoral students – Špela Vrtovec, Olga Srejić and Una Vuletić – participated in the workshop “Javna zgodba – v javnem interesu”, held on 10 June 2026 in Hrastnik, Slovenia, as part of the pre-conference programme of the Zasavje 2026 Just Transition Conference and a satellite event of the New European Bauhaus Festival.

The workshop focused on the revitalization of abandoned and underutilized buildings in the Zasavje region and explored opportunities for their transformation into housing, business and community spaces. The programme included a visit to Kompreshaus, a former compressor station that has been successfully renovated and repurposed into a business incubator.

The event brought together experts, researchers, practitioners, and local stakeholders to discuss renovation strategies, financing opportunities, stakeholder engagement, and regional development. The doctoral students received an opportunity to exchange knowledge, contribute to discussions on sustainable regeneration, and gain insights about challenges and opportunities faced by regions undergoing transition.
